Actor Govinda’s daughter Tina Ahuja (Narmmadaa) is being launched in this romantic comedy. So is this one Gippy Grewal’s debut in Bollywood too.
Gurpreet (Tina Ahuja) and Rajbir (Gippy Greval) are in love and want to marry each other. Gurpreet is a practising lawyer and Rabjir has filed for divorce from his ex-wife Neha (Geeta Basra).
Gurpreet’s parents are open to this idea, however her brother (Ravi Kishan) is against his daughter getting married to a ‘second hand husband’. The brother dreams of getting his sister married to a bachelor Punjabi boy in Canada as he too gets a chance to go to Canada.
The only hitch stopping this couple is the alimony amount of Rupees 30,000 per month that Rajbir has to pay every month to his ex-wife, Neha. While Rajbir earns barely 45,000 a month.
Gurpreet, being a lawyer, is aware that the alimony needs to be paid only till Neha gets married to someone else. So the couple in love begin their journey to find a suitable groom for Rajbir’s ex-wife.
Rajbir works in a four star hotel owned by Ajit Singh (Dharmendra) who has a roving eye for the PYTs. Ajit is happily married to Rati Agnihotri, yet still has that mischief in him to flirt around with good looking ladies (and even girls).
All efforts to find a groom for his demanding ex-wife go futile till a situation arises where Rajbir’s boss, Ajit Singh gets into trouble with his wife because of his flirtatious ways.
There are more twists and turns with other comedians in the story. Sanjay Mishra is the lawyer who represents the hotel owner’s wife who is disheartened (but still unsure if she should go in for divorce), the local Inspector played by Vijay Raaz who is on the lookout for a life-companion for himself and the tea vendour played by Gurpreet Ghuggi.
The film has an interesting start with some instances of good humour, especially the situations where Dharmendra is caught red handed by his wife flirting with other ladies. Dharamji struggles a bit otherwise.
Tina Ahuja has a beautiful face, however she is nowhere near her talented dad Govinda. Ofcourse, this is her first film and hope she puts in more efforts in her upcoming movies. We were expecting her to be a good dancer atleast, in this department too, she disappoints. Gippy Greval is quite at ease.
Well, it is Geeta Basra who takes away the credits with her beauty and sensuousness. Ravi Kishan is too loud during his dialogue deliveries.
Second Hand Husband is entertaing in parts. It could have been much better.
